No injuries reported as police launch investigation into the incident on Dean Street

A gunshot was reportedly fired at the window of a black taxi in central London’s bustling Soho district earlier today. The incident occurred on Dean Street, near the popular Oxford Street area, at approximately 10:10 AM on Tuesday, October 1.

According to the driver, his taxi was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired towards his vehicle, shattering a window. Thankfully, no injuries were sustained in the incident, and no passengers were reported to be inside the taxi at the time.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were alerted shortly after the incident, and a full investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm. As of now, no arrests have been made. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided a brief statement on the matter, saying, "An investigation has been launched and road closures remain in place."

Dean Street and its surrounding areas, typically busy with traffic and pedestrians, were temporarily cordoned off as authorities conducted their investigation. The road closures caused significant disruptions during the morning rush hour, adding to the tension in one of London’s most frequented neighbourhoods.

So far, there is no clear indication of the motive behind the shooting, and police have not yet revealed whether any suspects have been identified. The public is urged to remain vigilant, and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to come forward.

As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to assist with their enquiries.

While no injuries occurred, the shooting has raised concerns over public safety in one of London’s most central and well-known areas.
