The Ashley Storm is set to reach the UK this weekend, bringing severe weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rain, that could cause widespread flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Sunday, cautioning the public about potential power outages due to extremely strong winds across the country.

Coastal areas are especially at risk, with warnings of possible injuries and fatalities.

Two severe weather fronts are approaching from the Atlantic. The first front is expected to bring heavy downpours on Friday night, worsening the existing flood threats.

Weather experts warn of "very strong and gusty south winds" reaching speeds of up to 80 mph on Sunday.

Most of southern England and the Midlands woke up to dense fog on Friday, with delays expected in road traffic and public transport.

Following Thursday's heavy rainfall, flood alerts were issued across the country.

Nearly 50 flood warnings have been announced, with riverbanks and coastal areas identified as high-risk zones.

Flooding is expected in many areas across northern England and along the Wales-England border. High alert warnings have been issued, particularly in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

There are also over 150 flood alerts in place nationwide, including sections of the Thames River from London to Wiltshire, and around 30 points along the southern and eastern coastlines of England.

With already saturated ground in these areas, tonight’s rain is likely to increase the flood risk.

The Met Office has noted that temperatures on Friday will remain "mild despite the wind and rain," hovering around the mid-60s Fahrenheit (around 16°C).

Saturday is expected to be calmer for most areas, with sunny spells broken by only a few showers and "lighter winds for everyone," according to weather forecasters.

However, Sunday is forecasted to be "wet and windy," with Storm Ashley expected to make landfall early in the morning and continue moving eastward.

The strongest winds are predicted for Scotland, northwestern England, northwestern Wales, and Northern Ireland, where a yellow wind warning will be in effect on Sunday.

Other risks include building damage, power outages, and transportation disruptions.

The warning will remain in place until midday Monday, when the heaviest downpours are expected to ease.

Forecasters predict the weather for the remainder of the week will "remain generally unsettled, with showers or prolonged rainy spells."
