The deadly Marburg virus has put the East African country of Rwanda on high alert. Experts have announced that this disease, similar to the Ebola virus, currently has no known treatment.

In Rwanda, an East African country, a deadly outbreak of the Marburg virus has put health officials on high alert. This virus, similar to Ebola, currently has no treatment or vaccine available.

NO VACCINE OR TREATMENT AVAILABLE

The outbreak has drawn significant attention nationwide. The virus spreads through human-to-human contact and has resulted in nine deaths so far.

Although there is no effective vaccine or treatment for the Marburg virus, patients are being monitored, and preventive measures are continuously being taken.

The World Health Organization and other international health agencies have started working tirelessly to bring the outbreak under control.

EFFORTS TO FIND A TREATMENT ACCELERATE

Following reports about the deadly outbreak in Central Africa, researchers are accelerating their efforts to develop treatments and vaccines for the Marburg virus.

As of September 30, 2024, Rwanda has reported 27 cases and 9 deaths. Most of the cases have affected healthcare workers at two facilities in Kigali.

In a statement on September 29, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that the patients were receiving treatment in hospitals.
