14-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Acid Attack at West London School

A 14-year-old girl is in hospital with severe injuries after a suspected acid attack at her school in West London. The attack, which took place at Westminster Academy in Westbourne Park on Monday afternoon, also left a 16-year-old male student and a 27-year-old female staff member injured.

The Metropolitan Police reported that the injured girl may face life-altering consequences as a result of her wounds. While the 16-year-old boy remains in the hospital, his injuries are described as non-life-threatening. The staff member has been discharged after receiving treatment for her injuries.

The attack triggered a swift response from local authorities. The Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade were both called to the scene after a school employee flagged down officers near Alfred Road at around 16:40 BST. Two police officers who attended the scene were later hospitalized as a precaution after feeling unwell, but their conditions are not believed to be serious.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, “Urgent inquiries are under way to identify and arrest those responsible.” Tests are being conducted to confirm the nature of the substance, which is currently believed to be acidic.

Following the attack, Westminster Academy has been temporarily closed, with lessons moving online and most staff working remotely. An open morning event for Year 6 students has also been canceled as a precaution.

Several crime scenes have been established at the school as investigations continue. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to determine the full details of the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.
