Tesco's Trolley Scanner Change Sparks Backlash Among Shoppers
Editor: London News

Tesco customers are frustrated by a recent change in their shopping trolleys, where barcode scanner holders were moved from the right to the left side. Right-handed users find this shift inconvenient and have voiced their displeasure online.

Shoppers at Tesco have expressed their dissatisfaction over a recent modification to the store's shopping trolleys, specifically for those using self-scanning machines. In many stores, the handheld barcode scanner holders, which were traditionally placed on the right side of the trolleys, have now been shifted to the left. This change has caused frustration, particularly among right-handed customers who find it less practical to use.

One such shopper, Bobby (@thebobsta14), took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns. He posted, “Tesco, PLEASE put the handheld thing back on the right. Or at least make a mixture of trolleys available." He also added that with 90% of people being right-handed, the adjustment is "awfully impractical" after years of having the scanner holder on the right side.

@Tesco PLEASE put the handheld thing back on the right. Or at least make a mixture of trolleys available.

Years of it being on the right and 90% are right handed and this change is just awfully impractical pic.twitter.com/o0FEjtnrfF
