Historic England has raised serious concerns that the City of London Corporation’s draft City Plan 2040 could jeopardise the Tower of London’s UNESCO World Heritage status. Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook has ordered inspectors to review alternative development contours, pushing back the plan’s adoption.
The Tower of London will sell 50 tickets daily for its private morning opening ceremony, allowing attendees early access to the Crown Jewels. Tickets cost £62 for adults, £33.50 for children, and are limited to six per booking.
Historic Royal Palaces has secured permission to transform the Tower of London’s dry moat into a wildlife-friendly wetland. The £70 million project will use a Victorian culvert as a water storage tank, following successful trials of a small wetland patch.
