We do not charge for death, funeral, memorial or thank-you notices. Every other local paper does, and a family arranging a funeral should not also be arranging a quote.

Common questions
- How much does a death notice cost?
- Nothing. News London publishes death and funeral notices free of charge. There is no package, no per-line rate and no upgrade — we have no print edition to sell space in.
- How do I place a death notice?
- Fill in the form on this page with the name of the person who has died, the funeral arrangements if they are settled, and the wording the family would like. An editor reads every notice before it is published and will come back to you if anything needs checking.
- How long does it take to appear?
- Usually within a working day. Notices are read by a person rather than published automatically, so one sent overnight appears the following morning.
- Can I include the funeral details?
- Yes, and most families do — the date, time and place, and whether the service is open to anyone who wishes to attend. If the family would rather keep the arrangements private, leave those fields empty and we will publish the notice without them.
- Can I change or remove a notice after it is published?
- Yes. Write to the newsdesk with the name and what needs changing, and we will amend or remove it. There is no charge for that either.
