Islington Council declares 'private rent crisis'

Islington Council has declared a 'private renting crisis' and voted to lobby the government for powers to introduce rent controls and an emergency rent freeze. Average rents in the borough reached £2,868 in August 2026, a 6.2 per cent annual increase.
