Beckton desalination plant to restart by December after £500m spend

Thames Water will restart its £500m Beckton desalination plant by the end of the year to boost reservoir levels over winter. The plant, which has supplied just 7.2bn litres since 2011, will rely on weather conditions and electricity costs. Critics question its value after years of limited use.
