Little Rayes Daycare in West Croydon has been rated as requiring urgent improvement by Ofsted in two key areas, including curriculum and teaching, and inclusion. The report highlighted concerns over support for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Ofsted inspectors found Canopy Children’s Nursery in Wembley Park failed to meet safeguarding standards for 76 children aged zero to four. The nursery closed for a week in July to implement a plan including enhanced training and supervision, which Ofsted has since verified.
Catalyst Care Ltd and its directors were fined £92,400 for operating three unregistered children’s homes in Kent between October 2022 and April 2025. The company received over £1.8m from local authorities while providing accommodation for nine children without Ofsted registration.
Ofsted has rated the City of London Corporation’s children’s services as ‘outstanding’ following a November 2024 inspection. Inspectors highlighted progress in addressing domestic abuse and exploitation risks, with Deputy Chair Steve Goodman calling the rating a recognition of high-quality support for families.

Hackney’s support for young people leaving care has improved substantially, Ofsted found, with warm relationships and a dedicated hub praised. However, inspectors identified inconsistencies in supervision and health summaries, while housing progress remains partial.
