Perseid meteor shower peaks 13 August with up to 100 shooting stars an hour

The annual Perseid meteor shower reaches its brightest point in the early hours of Thursday 13 August 2026. Up to 100 meteors an hour may be visible across London and the south-east if skies stay clear, the Met Office has said. A new moon will darken the sky, improving visibility.
