Barnet residents face continued heatwaves into September and an ongoing hosepipe ban after Thames Water reported a 15% drop in water storage. The UK Health Security Agency has extended its amber heat alert, while Affinity Water and Essex and Suffolk Water have also imposed restrictions.
Two photographs taken at Gloucester Gate show green grass on 7 June and brown, dusty ground on 2 August. A hosepipe ban is now in force across most of London, prohibiting outdoor watering of plants and grass.
