Five rare‑breed ewes have been placed on Hampstead Heath between 9 and 21 September as part of a conservation grazing trial run by the City of London Corporation. The flock is on loan from Mudchute City Farm and will be visible to the public during daily opening hours.

Barnet’s parks, including Hampstead Heath and Walthamstow Marshes, have joined a London-wide ban on barbecues and open fires after temperatures exceeded 30°C for the 33rd time this year. Authorities warn a single spark could ignite a wildfire in seconds, with new rules also prohibiting swimming in unsupervised water.
Barnet’s parks have turned brown after England recorded its driest July since records began in 1911. The Met Office confirmed only 5.6mm of rainfall, less than half the previous low, leaving grass scorched across the borough and water restrictions possible.
