Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which can transmit diseases like dengue and Zika, have been found breeding in East London homes for the first time in the UK. Health officials are monitoring the situation and advising residents to remove standing water.
Aedes aegypti, the tropical mosquito that can spread dengue, chikungunya and Zika, was discovered breeding in east London houses, the first UK breeding record. UKHSA says the health risk is very low, has started larval control and asks locals to eliminate standing water.
