Met Police seize 2,367 illegal e-bikes in year as powers expand

Metropolitan Police seized 2,367 illegal e-bikes in the year to 19 May 2026, the highest total in the UK. Under the Crime and Policing Act 2026, officers can now confiscate modified e-bikes without issuing a warning. Barnet residents report rising concerns over speeding and pavement use.
