Bank of England paid £20m to slave owners, 24 directors linked to trade

The Bank of England paid £20 million to slave owners after the 1833 abolition act, while 24 of its early directors were investors in the slave trade, a 2022 exhibition also listed 599 enslaved people owned by the bank.
