Metropolitan Police warns alcohol in London football stands could spark more violence

The Metropolitan Police Commissioner told the London Assembly that permitting fans to drink in the stands would likely increase violence and drug use. He added that policing London matches cost more than £23 million in 2023/24, with clubs reimbursing just over £2 million. The Home Office says no change to the ban is imminent.
