London to see warm spells in late September

London is set to experience warm weather spells in the latter half of September, the Met Office has predicted. This follows a summer that saw the UK on course for its hottest on record, with temperatures in the capital reaching up to 38.1°C during heatwaves.

Temperatures in London are expected to climb to 25°C in the middle of the week. This is anticipated to usher in a period of warm and largely dry weather that should continue until the start of the following week. While showers were possible on Monday afternoon, particularly during events like Notting Hill Carnival, the capital is expected to largely avoid the heavy rain affecting other parts of the UK.

In contrast, other areas have experienced significant rainfall. Bradworthy Common in Devon recorded 34.2mm of rain over a 12-hour period on Sunday. Flood warnings were in place for Spadesbourne Brook in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, and flood alerts were issued for 15 other areas by the Environment Agency.
