Coqfighter named London champion in Uber Eats awards

Coqfighter, a fried chicken restaurant based in Central London, has been recognised as a regional champion in the 2026 Uber Eats UK Restaurant of the Year Awards. The restaurant will now advance to the national finals, where it will contend for a £100,000 grand prize.

The awards, now in their fifth year, celebrate independent restaurants across the UK. Coqfighter was selected as one of nine regional champions following a public vote. Merve Basci, general manager of Uber Eats UK, stated that independent restaurants are the "beating heart of the UK’s food scene" and that Uber Eats is proud to support businesses that contribute flavour, jobs, and culture to communities.

Coqfighter, which began as a pop-up and has since expanded into a chain, was recognised for its public support, culinary reputation, and local food scene impact. The restaurant's menu is noted for its Korean-inspired fried chicken.

Each of the nine regional champions will receive £5,000 in cash and a growth package from Uber Eats UK. For the first time this year, second and third place winners will also receive £25,000 and £10,000 respectively. The national finals are scheduled to take place in London in September 2026, where the finalists will participate in a live cook-off judged by a panel including comedian Ed Gamble.

Other regional winners include Shimlas in Bradford, Gurt Wings in Bristol, Piatto in Glasgow, Jinseon of Coventry, Ragin Bird in Leicester, Nashville Cluck in Liverpool, Junglees in North London, and Brorritos in South London. These finalists have been highlighted for offering distinctive flavours and contributing positively to their local areas.
