Ashley Wallace convicted of murdering Tyrece Balcha near Wembley Stadium

Ashley Wallace, 40, has been convicted of murdering 18-year-old Tyrece Balcha after a shooting on South Way, near Wembley Stadium, in September 2025. The Old Bailey jury delivered the guilty verdict on 7 August 2026. Wallace was also found guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Tyrece Balcha died on 25 September 2025, four days after being shot during an altercation outside a nightclub. Emergency services were called to South Way at around 5.30am on 21 September, following reports of gunfire. He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition but did not survive.

Investigation and arrest

Wallace fled the scene in a parked car. Police traced the vehicle to South East London and arrested him days later. A search uncovered a revolver with Wallace’s DNA, and forensic analysis matched a bullet from the gun to the shooting. Wallace, of Shenley Road in Southwark, was taken into custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, said the team used CCTV and forensic evidence to build a detailed case. He praised Tyrece’s family for their dignity and patience throughout the trial. The family expressed gratitude to the police and prosecution for securing the conviction.

Family tribute

Bonnie Clark, Tyrece’s mother, paid tribute to her son after the verdict. She described him as a loving son, brother and friend with an infectious smile. Tyrece had turned 18 just eight weeks before his death. His younger brother, who was one year old when Tyrece died, will grow up without knowing him.

Clark thanked the Metropolitan Police, the prosecution team, and the community for their support. She said the family would ensure Tyrece’s memory lived on as a kind and warm person, not as a victim. The family received messages of condolence from people who had never met Tyrece but were moved by his story.

Trial outcomes

At the same trial, two men were found not guilty of murder. A woman was acquitted of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and perverting the course of justice. The jury could not reach a verdict on a fourth man, and it is unclear whether he will face a retrial.

Wallace will be sentenced at a later date. The court has not yet set a date for the hearing. Tyrece’s family said they hoped the verdict would bring some measure of justice, though it could not undo their loss.
